What to expect

The first-meet primer.

Honest answers about what happens, what to wear, what kind of car qualifies, and what the chapter is actually like in person.

  1. 01  ·  Your first meet

Show up. Drink coffee. Look at cars.

Most cars and coffee meets are first-Saturday mornings, 8:30 to 11. Roll in any time. Park where there is room. Coffee is on us for first-time attendees - just say so. There is no sign-in, no name tag, no agenda.

  2. 02  ·  Your car

356 to 992. Project to garage queen.

Air-cooled 911? You are welcome. 992 GT3? You are welcome. Boxster you bought last week? You are welcome. Macan picking up the kids? You are welcome. There is no minimum standard of finish - cars in the middle of a rebuild are interesting, not embarrassing.

  3. 03  ·  What to wear

Whatever you would wear to a casual breakfast.

Jeans and a jacket. This is the Pacific Northwest, not Pebble Beach. Layers help - mornings are usually cooler than the forecast suggests. If it is raining, the meet still happens.

  4. 04  ·  The vibe

Mixed ages, mixed cars, mixed expertise.

You will meet people who have owned twelve Porsches and people on their first one. You will meet retirees, software engineers, mechanics, photographers, and at least one person who built their own race car. Half the conversation is about cars; the other half is about coffee, the weather, and what road we should drive next weekend.

  5. 05  ·  What we are not

No concours pressure. No track requirement. No sales floor.

No one will ask you to bring your car to a concours. No one will pressure you toward a track day. No one will pitch you on tinting, mods, or detailing. We are members, not vendors. The chapter has nothing to sell you.

  6. 06  ·  Your second event

Look at the calendar. Pick a drive.

After your first meet, look at the chapter events page and pick a drive. Bring a guest if you want. If you are nervous about driving in a group, ride at the back - we will pair you with an experienced member. The first drive is the highest-leverage thing you can do as a new member.
